Colombo, Sri Lanka | August 25, 2025 – The Derana Colombo International Kite Festival 2025 concluded with resounding success at the iconic Galle Face Green, transforming the city’s skies into a dazzling display of color, creativity, and culture.
After a six-year hiatus, the festival made a grand comeback, drawing over 500 local kite flyers and international participants from 25 countries including Germany, the Netherlands, France, Malaysia, Indonesia, China, Thailand, India, Singapore, and Australia.

Spectators were mesmerized by kites of all shapes and sizes—giant elephants, leopards, pandas, birds, snakes, and even comic characters like Pinocchio—each painting the night sky with imagination and artistry. The introduction of designer LED kites and unique formations further elevated the spectacle, making it a feast for the eyes.

Organized by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau in collaboration with Derana TV Network, the festival was more than just entertainment—it was a strategic cultural and tourism initiative.
