Kolkata, September 17, 2026: The Kolkata Kite Festival 2026, organized by the Tourism Department, Government of West Bengal, was successfully celebrated at Eco Park, Kolkata, on the auspicious occasion of Vishwakarma Puja.
The colourful festival transformed the Kolkata skyline into a spectacular canvas filled with magnificent kites of different shapes, sizes and themes. Renowned professional kite flyers from various states of India participated in the event and demonstrated their remarkable kite-flying skills.
The main attractions included giant inflatable kites, traditional Indian kites, artistic theme-based kites, single-line kites and dual-line sport kites. Some impressive kites measured between 5 and 25 feet, creating an unforgettable visual experience for visitors.
The festival attracted people of all age groups, including children, youngsters, families and senior citizens. Visitors enjoyed the exciting kite displays, traditional kite-fighting culture, food, entertainment and festive atmosphere. The enthusiastic cheers of “Bho-Katta!”, “Voilla!” and “Bohakata!” reflected Kolkata’s deep-rooted passion for kite flying.
The event was organized to promote West Bengal’s tourism, traditional culture and community entertainment while providing a platform for talented kite flyers. It also helped generate wider media attention and presented Kolkata as an attractive destination for cultural and recreational tourism.
KITIST INDIA, appointed as the Official Kite Consultant for the festival, supported the planning, coordination of kite flyers, arena management, safety arrangements and professional kite displays. This around 20 International Kite Flyers from Various States from India are participated and performed kite flying.
The successful organization of the Kolkata Kite Festival 2026 demonstrated the commitment of West Bengal Tourism to promoting vibrant public events that bring communities together and showcase the cultural beauty of Bengal.
